Timer restarting itself, keeps cooking

I have a built in Frigidaire microwave. Recently when I have it in timed cook mode (not using the auto buttons) when the timer runs out it automatically restarts at the beginning again doubling the cooking time resulting in double cooking times and once triggering the vent to automatically run for awhile because it overheats. No issues with the easy press button timer settings.
