Display turns dark, Icons remain dimly visible

Regards, ... I have the Macbook A1181 for two years.

It turns on normally, but within 5 seconds goes to black screen. (the other functions are operational ) If I light up the screen with a lantern, I can distinguish the icons on the screen. Fans function-- normal temperature, no noise but only allows me to recover some of the image when I reduce the brightness and gradually increase to 2 or 3 points light. When I get up to 5 or 6 the screen turns black again.

I've worked with Logic until last week but occasionally had to pause due to temperature increase---could this be one cause ?

When I try to play a movie does not even allow two points of view it with brilliance.

Any suggestions?.

Thanks for this site and greetings to all, see you soon.

Nacho.

Hook it up to an external monitor. If that works I would replace the inverter. Here's how I do it: MacBook Core 2 Duo LCD & Inverter A1181 (fast method) Replacement

If the problem comes and goes as the display is moved, then go for the inverter cable.

Here's the part: MacBook Display Inverter

I have replaced the inverter and the cable but still no luck. If I 'jiggle' the connections to the inverter the screen lights up momentarily then goes black again. Any ideas? I'm about to replace the backlight as the last option!
