Why is my screen unresponsive and clicking everything?

My phone's screen is unresponsive at the top and bottom, forcing me to turn on glove mode to use the buttons.

The lower half of my screen has recently started to randomly click things that I don't l want it to, which obviously makes it nearly impossible to type.

I've tried cleaning the screen, as there is no major damage to it (a few light scratches), but to no avail.

Any ideas? I really don't want to get a new phone, as my family is in kind of a bad spot for money at the moment.
