Il primo modello di iPhone (A1203) con 4, 8 o 16 GB di memoria interna e retro in alluminio. La riparazione potrebbe richiedere alcune saldature e una buona dose di forzature sui componenti.

1st Gen. iPhone not recognised, Charges but doesn't say so. Why?

I recently got ahold of an old A1203 iPhone. I want to give it to my little Brother but it won't sync with any iTunes nor be recognised by any Mac I tried connecting it with. So far I tried different iTunes versions from 8 to 10 on various Macs (iBook g4, original MacBook, current MacBook Pro and MacMini Models, but none of them recognises it, not even the system profiler.

The phone charges but the battery icon does not change from the normal status icon to the »lightning bolt«-type icon and it appears to me that the process of charging is slightly slowed down. i have teared down the thing but all pins on the dock connector seem to be fine. what should i do?

Have you tried a different USB cord? If you haven't I would try that. If that doesn't work, I would recommend checking for water damage. Shine a light into the dock connector and look for any red. If you don't see any, do the same thing but in the headphone jack. If there is no water damage, you may be needing a new dock connector or battery. But before you attempt to replace those, grab some canned air and clean out the dock connector. There may be dust or even dead mice in there. ;) If that doesn't help, let me know. :)

I agree with Chris, but really clean the Dock Pins with isopropyll alcohol very thoroughly for a couple of minutes. The Pins are on top of the mid rib. Be firm with them but not harsh, you do not want to break anything. The next thing to get the battery to sync with the iPhone is a Hard Rest, hold at same time both Power and Home buttons, keep holding until the iPhones shuts off and then turns back on. Good luck.
