How Do I Uninvert The Colors On My Display?

The colors on most of my display screen are currently inverted. I'm not sure how it happened but all but a thin strip on the left edge of the screen is inverted. I have tried resetting it multiple times and even restored it but the problem hasn't gone away. I read through the Apple support stuff and actually found someone with the same problem but Apple simply told whoever it was to reset it. Which I have already done. Can anybody help me?

Samarie, I do believe that this is not a settings issue but a LCD issue. The ipod nano 6th gen was rumored to have an inversion for nights on it, but not your gen. since only part of your screen is inverted I do believe that you will need a new display. It is my suggestion to disassemble it and take a look at the connectors and the cables and clean the logic board of any corrosion. You can then replace the screen and go from there. While you have it open, I would also replace the battery since it must be getting to the end of its lifespan. Parts and instructions are available here...and a few other places.Good Luck

How would I go about cleaning it? I'm a little dumb when it comes to this.

And suprisingly, the battery is still really great.

Samarie, not dumb, just inexperienced :-) we all have to start somewhere. The instructions are on here at iPod Nano 3rd Generation Display Replacement and it is a bit of a PITA to work on it but not bad. Just take your time and familiarize yourself with the instructions. Take your time and relax :-) Once it is apart you can take the logic board and clean it with isopropyl alcohol (the higher the number the more alcohol the better to use) and a soft toothbrush and clean the board with it. Let it dry, you may use a hair dryer on the cools settings to help it to dry. Do not use the heat. Once you have it cleaned (including the connectors and the cable ends)check for any damage like rips and frays at the cables and make sure that when your reassemble it that all the cables are properly seated and fastened. Watch the little clips on the connectors, they are finicky. I do believe that you need a new LCD but u can verify that when you have it back together.

Okay. Thank you! Yeah, I probably do but I really can't afford to buy anything.

Sorry to hear that. Remember that parts are available here iPod nano (3rd Gen) Color Display and a few other places and are really not that expensive.

Sounds like you might have the "White on Black" setting (on).

Go to Settings- General- Accessibility- and then turn the "White on Black" option to off and see if that helps.
