When camera is turned on lens opens and closes over and over
I'm asked to turn camera off then back on but that doesn't help

I don't know if this is what you are experiencing, but if cameras try to open but can't (something stuck in the gears or something pushing on the front) then the camera will close again, and perhaps attempt to re-open. Is there a chance that anything's stuck that's preventing the lens from fully opening?

Mine does the same thing. Nothing is blocking the lens, but I suspect that there is dirt or grit that is blocking the lens from opening. Is there a good way to clean it with air pressure or.....?

I just found a fix for the exact same issue. When your shutter extends out, before it goes back in turn the largest grey base piece that is the bottom largest of the three rings in a clock wise direction with a little torque. It worked perfect for me, you have to do it every time, but it works like a charm. Be sure to do it when its fully extended, you should have a 1 in 3 chance before you have to turn it off and turn it back on again and try it. Try it out! It might work for you.

nathan, you are right, i took your advice. yup camera lens now opens and closes normally. thank you, you just saved me 100 bucks:-)
We tried doing this and it just didn't open at all.. what can we do to fix this?
