Whirlpool Dryer electronic controls have power but are not working
I have a Whirlpool Duet Dryer about 12 years old. Recently I replaced the thermosister and heating element and the dryer has run flawlessly for about a month. I get power to the control panel (lights up) but recently the buttons/controls stopped working. The heating element does get hot. I ran the diagnostic and had no issues.
Here are some of the strange things happening:
- When I use timed dry I am unable to adjust the length of time using the buttons. It will begin drying if I press start but I can't adjust the time.
- I can start the drying but if I need it to stop, pressing the cancel button no longer works. The only way it stops is by opening the door.
- At one point the dryer would not even turn on. I checked the breaker which was fine. I unplugged and plugged it back in and it turned back on but still had the same issues as stated above.
- If I press control on to get the power on I cannot turn the power off by pressing cancel. It seems as soon as there is power the issues occur.
Thanks!

It sounds like a faulty control board. What model number is your dryer?
