Old SHARP CD-Player shuts down immediately after power on

I have a SHARP CD-XP200W player. The player worked just fine and a few days ago when I tried to turn it on, it only showed the "POWER ON" message and shut down. Now every time I try to turn it on it keeps happaning, Showing "POWER ON" and immediately shuts down.

I checked the power supply and it all looks stable, my guess is something went wrong on the micro-proccessor from some mains power on / sudden power off but I have no clue what can it be... Anyone familier with this phenomenon?

I have some electrical knowledge and would like some help or guidance to solve this if possible.

Hi,

I don't know your player but perhaps you could start by initially inspecting that all the different power supply rails' components appear to be OK and hopefully you may have enough time to do some voltage checks as well before it shuts down and then go from there.

Here is a link to a page in the service manual that shows the power supply section of the player.

Hopefully this is of some help.
