A1278, core2duo, chime:yes, white display.

Found my old macbook pro A1278 core2duo boots up with a chime but display comes up white, hard disk has been removed earlier, screen seems to be caught with funguses, i am not sure about it, is there a way to find out, that my screen is ok? With some kind of bootable usb?

Update (05/02/2018)

Update : i found out the issue and it was, the graphics chipset, Re-hot procedure worked on it, and now the macbook is blinking the folder with an question mark. but unfortunately my keyboard is kinda dead, and the hard disk cable has been lost, so my question is, will the macbook accept the hard disk caddy or bootable pendrive, directly ?

Double-check your components and cables, is everything inserted and plugged in correctly?

Also give it some time to boot up as it might be still loading :3

And well, you in theory could use Recovery mode to check (Just google on how to do it for your device)

everything is ok, i finally figured out the issue. :) thanks anyways.

The screen is going to remain white until it has an operating system to load from. Either on from the original system optical disk, a retail installation disk or a drive with a system on it.

Yes i did a lot research on it, just purchased a lightening port to vga converter, it switches the display to external output, when lid is closed. And the external monitor stays white. Then i tried fitting hard disk caddy in place of dvd rom, and in meantime i made an mac os x bootable pendrive with restore option in transmac. Everything is properly connected and still i see nothing on the screen, pendrive led blinks once but next its just idle. According to the ouput on external monitor i think the graphics chipset and the built-in display is working properly. Issue is something else. Keyboard has no lights on it, and doesn’t seem to be working too. Please suggest me something on my experience.

[one more thing the hard disk and the hard disk cable has been lost earlier, that’s why i used hard disk caddy.]

Reboot and hold down the option key and see if your USB drive comes up.

Well, i tried this, but nothing happened, it started with white screen and chime only. Keyboard isn’t working i guess. Can i use any other keyboard for boot options?
