1215a Optical Drive revving repeatedly
So I was getting "unrecognizable disc" errors with all my games, so like anybody with some safety-bit torx drivers I took my ps4 (1215a) apart for a deep clean. Alcohol swabbed the bluray lens and slapped it all back together after removing ~2yrs of dust, and the drive will read the discs again.
But it revs up, then immediately spins down. Then repeats, like a kid stepping on and off the throttle. Over and over, it was able to install Far Cry 5 (rental) and run it for 15 minutes, then stopped, Disc couldn't be read in the middle of playing it. The entire time the game was running, the drive was revving up-and-down, repeatedly.
Tried again, made it to the game's main menu then the drive spun down with a soft grinding added, then same error message. I've since tried holding the eject button to "reset" the drive, insert disc, repeats symptoms, eject and tried again 10 times. I haven't put the outside case back pieces back on.
Is it the lens? Is it the mechanicals? Do I replace the drive...Keep in mind this is a CUH-1215A, thanks for reading.
Questa è una buona domanda?
Its the motor, unable to maintain constant rotational speed. Its brush-less so you can try a quart of motor oil,,, but good luck.
