1215a Optical Drive revving repeatedly

The dust built up may of been too much and broke it or you cleaned it too rough. Never done a PS4 before but have a PS3 and there very sensitive. If you cleaned the lens too hard it maybe of caused damage or maybe you just restored some little life into it. Best thing is just to replace the drive, looking up your model, it looks to be the most expensive to repair. Its gonna be 80$ or so but don't take my word on it. Maybe just try drying the lens or even washing it again. You can also try the famous, un plug and plug back in. Give it a few hours to rest or even fiddle around with it if its already messed up.

No your PS4 is just old, after about a year mine did the same thing, the only discs you may use are the ones you've been using. Here's why: I play my PS4 about 4 hrs every day and I know you do too, since we use our ps4s excessively the discs will end up wearing into the discs docking frame causing dammage to the edge of the disc, however there's no data on the edge so the game will still work. Now the frame itself will be dammaged too so when you add your new farcry 5 disc it will rub on the eye or maybe on the ps4s inner structures. That won't kill the game it will only scuff it depending on how old your console is, anyway I advise you to only buy games online. You can't return them or get them back when you get a new ps4 (without recovering the previous hard-drive), but there is no disc spinning around with 30 different ways for the game to malfunction. Anyways I hope this helps, and don't rent games, devs don't get anything when you do that because the person you rented it from does not count as a royalty since he just bought the rights to rent the games out. That company's probably way past what they spent by now. P.S. may do that too but at least your getting them money so they can make more intuitive consoles. Trust me, I've been a PS player since the ps1 when it still had just the d-pad and they've given me many reasons to keep on playing. Sorry bout getting a little deep, I just got off work ^~^
