Changed it to new housing and now NO SERVICE

I bought a 7 plus with earpiece not working, bottom loud speaker muffled and rear housing and camera damaged.

Replaced the back housing, button flex, power flex, new speaker...

I don't know which is the cellular antenna but I've done everything right and from little research, the cellular antenna is the one lies in top of the loud speaker.

Now I don't know what the problem is for NO SERVICE.

What can it be? And can it be fixed?

I've handled it without gloves on and the Wifi works fine. Phone was definitely working fine when I bought it signals all fine.

I spend way too much this phone wife will kill me!

The iPhone has the GSM antenna embedded within the housing. Depending on where you got the housing, it is always possible that the housing is of low quality. The other possibility is that you missed a step when you re-assembled everything back together. All of those tiny screws are critically important when it comes to the antennas because they are what allows the antenna path to connect properly.

I would recommend you go back through the various guides to insure you didn't miss anything. Worse case, you could put things back in the original housing to see if everything works properly. If it does, then the replacement housing may be the issue.

I didn't miss any screws but one long screw that goes in to speaker unit and some sort antenna unit didn't go in very well.

Wifi works really well so can it still be the housing?

Also I did the factory reset just from the phone and for like one minute I had service and signal but it disappeared. I tried reset again but couldn't achieve the result.

I'm not an expert on the antenna design of the iPhone but as far as I know, the upper section of the housing is the WiFi/GPS/BT area and the lower section is for the GSM bands.

Thanks. I'll try and reassemble the bottom and see if that helps. If the housing is of bad quality and signal will be poor not absolute no service right? Maybe I didn't screw them in properly as I did get some signal when I factory reset the phone.

So I did the screws all again on the new housing but still NO SERVICE. So I used the original housing again and still NO SERVICE. I think I damaged it somewhere bad.

I stumbled on this thread and thought I’d answer for future readers. You had a baseband issue. Demonstrated by going into setting - general - about and down the bottom it should have details next to modem firmware. No details means no baseband.

The baseband modem connects to the network, thats why you get searching.

Fixable? Yes, by a microsoldering expert. It’s a 9/10 difficulty, so you need someone with a few years experience.

Hey. I was quoted £80 for IC chip or something repair.

But I actually put the old casing back and claimed on insurance and I got new replacement. So fixed it that way.

I think the way I disconnected the battery blew something on board.

Good luck fixing it.

Geez that’s a terrifying feeling boy.

Anytime we change the housing and then the phone has an issue we automatically want too blame the part lol Remember rule number one always disconnect the battery prior to anything.

***PLEASE NOTE-No service is also a sign of a deactivated sim and/or a blacklisted phone before you go crazy tearing it apart run the imei who knows maybe it just got blocked moments ago this does happen and also try a different sim card,in rare cases the sim card reader that is soldered to the logicboard can be shorted by highly unlikely if not exposed to electric current while wet.

If this happens to anyone else I will write this little article too help fix this issue.

Step 1- Disconnect Battery

Step 2-Disconnect Screen

Step 3-Remove the Charging port and Speaker Assembly (bottom obviously).

Step 4-Disconnect antenna from Charge port if not already.

Now get a guide here and reassemble everything SLOW AND METHODICALLY STEP BY STEP.

Turn iPhone on once assembled and Tap Settings/General/Reset/Reset Network settings and done.

Yes unfortunately all of the above was done and it didn't help. Luckily I claimed on insurance and got refurbished replacement from apple directly.
