New Battery Replacement is Not Being Recognized
Hey
A friend of mine gave me his old MacBook Air (mid 2011). It had a swollen battery so I took it out, and ordered a replacement. I got the new battery, set it up, and it is not being recognized.
The laptop was running Lion OS, and it would not show that the new battery was connected. I plugged the old battery back in and the computer recognized that one, so i'm thinking the new battery is faulty. Just to test, I upgraded Lion to OS X (this also allowed me to use coconut battery).
OS X failed to install every time, until I connected the old battery again. (Unrelated, but I guess you cannot upgrade your OS without a battery).
After OS X was installed, I tried the new battery again. This time the battery indicator on the top of the screen showed the battery symbol charging and 0%. It would then change back to the battery symbol with an X.
I have tried everything that I could find on the forums: Resetting SMC, PRAM, etc.
I've tried two chargers, a 45W and 85W and both just have a solid green light.
I've included images of my battery system report as well as my coconut battery diagnosis for when the battery indicator shows a 0% charge and with the X. (The system report did not change when the battery indicator changed, but the coconut battery diagnosis did.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
