My phone keeps touching things by itself and I'm not even touching it.

This has been happening a lot lately and it is getting really frustrating. I haven't changed my screen or anything and I've had my Moto G4 for about a year now. I haven't dropped it from high up or anything and the phone is in great condition. Somehow, most of the time I pick up my phone to use it, the phone will start touching and opening random apps or start typing things when I'm trying to send a text. Can someone please help. I'll appreciate it.

I had the same problem and realized it was only happening when the phone was plugged into the charger. I have heard them called "turbo" chargers but don't know if that is the case. It does not do it when plugged into my car phone jack. Remove the charger before you start working on the phone and it does not happen!

@boiiii start by making sure you back-up all of your files. Then do a hard reset. Here are some instructions:

It is highly recommended that you complete a backup of the device information and disable Device Protection before proceeding with the steps in this tutorial.

With the device turned off, press and hold the Volume down key.

Note: If Device Protection is not disabled, the login credentials for the Google account currently associated with the device will be needed to set up the device after the reset.

With the Volume down key held down, press and hold the Power key.

Release both keys when the Android screen appears.

Use the Volume keys to scroll to RECOVERY MODE.

Press the Power key to select RECOVERY MODE.

When the No command message appears, press and hold the Power key.

While holding the Power key, press and release the Volume Up key.

Note: Release the Power key when the Android Recovery screen appears.

Press the Volume down key to scroll to Wipe data/factory reset.

With Wipe data/factory reset highlighted, press the Power key.

Press the Volume down key to scroll to Userdata only, then press the Power key.

Once the wipe is complete, with Reboot system now highlighted, press the Power key.

The device will restart.

The device is now reset and ready for use. from here.

If that still will not resolve the issue, you most likely need a new display assembly since that is where the "ghost touch" usually originates from.

Will it delete everything

da

A hard reset will not delete anything, it is just forcing the phone to restart.

I had the same problem. All I did to fix it was hold down my power button and press restart after that I didn't have anymore problems. It happened after my mom hit a bear (were all safe) I started having issues with my phone but I did that and it worked again

If this doesn't help with your problem then try reading the other comments and sorry if it's not useful.

I believe that this is just an issue that will stay with you, if a factory reset does not fix it. I experience the same problems as you, but only when charging. My solution is to unplug, turn off the screen and turn it on again. Sorry I can’t offer a permanent solution, but I am dealing with the same problem as well.

One more thing, if I charge using a portable battery pack, it sometimes gets rid of the issue and does not trigger the screen to go nuts.

The only cure for a phone going to a touch on its own without ever touching it voluntarily is to have a screen lock. I put a screen lock with both a combination unlock and a fingerprint sensor on my new LG Stylo 6 and it works. The LG Stylo 4 user manual (my former phone) SAID it had a fingerprint sensor, but in reality only a combination screen-lock worked on that one. Either way, when the screen is locked , the phone WILL NOT go to a touch on its own by either means of random movements by you or coming in contact with the contents of your pocket, etc!

I have a Samsung galaxy s10+, and I have been having this problem the last 4 or so months. I don't have a screen protector, and I've tested to see if it's perhaps just sweaty hands? It's definitely not. Whenever my screen starts getting random taps all over, simply locking the screen stops it. Even without cleaning or touching the screen ANY further. Pretty sure at this point, it's just yet another company purposely messing up older models, to force you into buying a newer one, but Making it seem like your own idea. Previous phones simply started taking far too long to load anything, even internal apps while not connected to data/internet. This seems to be their new “solution “
