No screen power after removal LCD cable without powering laptop off

Hey there guys,

I recently noticed my hinge was loose, so I opened up my macbook pro, and disconnected the LCD cable, but I was stupid enough to not unplug the battery cable, so the device turned on and the fans ramped up to full speed.

After reassembly, the device wouldn't turn on at all, no chime....

After resetting the SMC and PRAM I hear a chime, and the keyboard LEDS light up, but the screen stays black.

I can also press keys to hear my PING sound for errors, the laptop is fully functional I guess?

Shining with a torch trough the apple logo resulted in even more blackness. (I Didn't see anthing)

When I connected the laptop with an MiniDP cable to my 27" 2009 iMac, it recognized it, but a black screen. That could also be courtesy of the cable.

I've tried reconnecting the LCD cable at both ends, but no luck.

Could someone help me, it would be very appreciated.

Thank you,

Tristan

You probably blew the backlight filter and fuse.. Common issue when you forget to disconnect power. It will need board repair.

So there's practically nothing I can do about it? That's a bummer. A board repair will probably cost 200-300 Euro's, which I don't have at the moment...

Is there any way I can check this? Physical damage to a part?

If you have a microscope, you can pull the board and look for any burnt components near the LVDS cable and near the backlight driver but not much you can do without microsoldering equipment.

I just tried looking at the board with a 8x zoom on my phone, and everything looks fine around the connector, so I hope it could be something else.

It's probably going to be the fuse on the other side of the board

I will remove the board tomorrow and I'll look, thanks for the help so far. Even if it is negative. There aren't many ASP's here in the Netherlands, and the closest is a 2,5 hour drive.
