MacBook can't function when the charger isn't plugged in
Since yesterday I have had problems regarding my MacBook. Yesterday it would turn off out of nowhere, even when my battery wasn't close to dying. After plugging the charger in and trying to restart it, everything worked fine for a bit but then the same thing happened again multiple times.
Now today the problem has worsened, meaning that I can only use my MacBook when the charger is plugged in. As soon as I remove the charger my MacBook instantly shuts down.
So I looked at some of the possible solutions, including identifying the battery status and this is what happened: my battery had the "Replace Now" status, so I did a SMC reset multiple times. After turning my MacBook back on (with the charger plugged in, since it won't function otherwise) my MacBook is now displaying a battery life of 0% including the status "battery won't be charged". The "Replace Now" status has also disappeared after the SMC reset.
Here is some information that hopefully helps in identifying the problem:
Charge Information:
- Charge Remaining (mAh): 0
- Fully Charged: no
- Charging: no
- Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 0
Health Information:
- Cycle count: 896
- Condition: normal
- Battery installed: yes
- Amperage (mA): 0
- Voltage (mV): 11777
Any help would be greatly appreciated since I'm a student who uses his laptop daily and needs it to do school work.
- Update: Literally as soon as I posted my question the battery status changed back to "Replace Now" but the battery life still shows 0%.
