(pics) 2 new screens, same issue, bad screens or bad motherboard?

I am replacing the entire lcd panel on my Xiaomi Redmi note 4X and here's what I've tried...

- Ordered new replacement panel, came in flimsy box and I assume it was damaged because of the vertical colored lines.

- Ordered a new new replacement panel, came in great packaging but it has the exact same issue plus it is so much dimmer, compared to the first replacement screen.

- Cleaned all connectors with alcohol and cotton swab

Now I'm sitting here wondering if it's the motherboard/display connector, or that I had bad luck from China with two dead on arrival screens in a row.

What does your experience tell you to do in this situation?
