Having random restarts and also error screens during dell updates.

Having the following issues with a Dell Inspiron 15 5565 series I received for christmas.

Experiencing random restarts followed by blue screens saying it did not restart correctly and asking if I want to attempt recovery or restart again.

Getting blue screen errors when I attempt Dell updates also followed by the blue screen saying it did not restart correctly.

Since I've gotten it I've done little more than update AMD drivers through the program on their site, ran updates, and installed some games/avast/google chrome/etc.

Hi,

Get into the Windows Recovery area.

In the advanced section select Start Up repair. Do not select Reset this PC as it will reinstall windows and you will lose all your data.

If this doesn't work have you got a system restore point back to a point in time before the problems started? If so go back to that point. You will lose any new programs that you installed and any updates but not any user data.

I just performed a factory reset a couple hours ago and still having the issues with dell updates installing. However, I've talked will a dell tech and we discussed some possible solutions I should try.

I tried talking to both Dell and Microsoft tech support and thought I fixed all my issues. But I just encountered another random restart.

When I spoke to them over the course of 2 days we ran checks for corrupted files, ran corrupted file repair, made sure all my firmware got updated, Etc. It's been about 5 days since we did all that and here I am with another random restart.

Hi,

Are you getting BSOD with the restarts again or is it too quick and it just restarts?

Here is a link that shows how to stop the process at the BSOD so that you may perhaps get an error code that may give some insight as to what is happening. I realize that you don't have a HP computer it is just to show how to get to the "automatically restart" check box so that you can disable the setting.

Here is a list of some BSOD error codes that may help.

If that is no good then perhaps you can create "dump" files and there are forums online which look at the dump file to analyze the problem (saves you downloading the software needed to interpret the files)

If you have been here or are already doing this apologies.

You really should not have to be doing this with a new computer though.

Perhaps you should invoke the warranty for a replacement or refund as it is not fit for purpose the way it is
