My Nintendo 3DS frequently freezes

For the past 4 months, I have been having issues with my Nintendo 3DS XL where it may randomly freeze without warning. I could be playing a game, be at the home menu or even be in sleep mode, and it will freeze. No guides online have really helped me fix this issue. I have noticed that hitting the back with my finger freezes the console, so it may be something wrong inside. Any help would be appreciated. The console completely freezes, it displays a still image on the screen, and no sound plays. Thanks for your time.
