Installed a new LED DRIVER. Possibly wrong way. Mac won't turn on now

I recently removed the LED Driver on my Mac Air 820-00165.

Once I received the new one in the mail I attempted to replace it. I must have rubbed the writing off with alcohol and I had to guess which way to put it on. Not only did the backlight not work but the Mac won't even turn on or show a green light on charger. I guess my question it:

Would putting the Driver on the wrong way cause the mac to be completely dead or do I have a bigger problem on my hands? Is it as simple at removing that one, cleaning the pads and putting a new one on? I am afraid that even if I get a new driver and put it on correctly, I did some other damage to the board or nearby components.

Which LED driver; the keyboard LED or the display LED? Either way, putting it on in the wrong orientation can certainly cause issues with the proper function of the motherboard. You may also have caused other damage as well but without knowing the orientation and what pins went where, it's impossible to say.

The best bet is to get a new driver, install it the proper way and see what happens. If the motherboard has other issue, then we can troubleshoot those once they are clear.

@refectio thank you for your quick response! It was the LP8550 for the backlight display. I just put in an order for 2 new drivers (just incase). I will install properly and keep you updated. Thank you so much. Any other thoughts

Done. I hope I did that right.

@refectio So I installed another backlight driver. Still no green light or power.

Check the integrity of this line PPVOUT_SW_LCDBKLT_FB. Sometimes the trace is damaged and causes issues. I believe Louis has a video on this. Also refer to this question, I had a similar problem in the past (MacBook Air 13” (2014) – Water Damage, will not power on). It might give you some ideas to troubleshoot.
