In need of temporary SMC related solution.
I have a Late 2008 15" MacBook Pro. Currently without battery, as the battery itself is missing (don't ask). However a battery has been ordered.
Until then, running on AC power only. The issue is: Loud, fast fans; Backlight keyboard not working; charger indicator dimmed; sudden power off.
The main issues being: sudden power off; loud fans. Until the battery is delivered, I need some sort of temporary solution, to bring fans to normal speed as well as stop sudden shut down. The mac "thinks" there is a battery connected, showing the "X" symbol, saying battery low, updating apps suggests plugging into power, when in fact I am running solely off AC Power.
I apologise in advance for the abstract english, it's currently 3am in CPT.
I have tried copious SMC reset methods, as well as PRAM reset methods. It seems, when the power is unplugged, or the SMC is reset, I have to hold the power down, then plug it in, the release power and press power one more time to get it to turn on. This is beginning to be rather irritating.
Please help with temp solution.
Update (12/21/2017)
In case, I'm not the only one, I solved the sudden shut down with the caffeinated command Prevent System Sleep While a Process or Command is Active in Mac OS X.
