Pixelated image when using built-in Chromecast

Before I got a smart TV I would screen cast from my android to a Chromecast dongle with no issue.

Ever since I've been using the built in Chromecast on my Vizio, every few minutes into streaming something the image will get very pixelated. The only way I've found to fix it is to stop the cast, wait a minute, and start casting again. And then a few minutes later the image gets pixelated again. Stop casting, wait, start casting...

Does anyone know why this is happening and/or how to correct it?

I'm casting from a Motorola android but that wasn't an issue when using the dongle.

Thanks,

Jake

Hi @jakec

Just clarifying.

If you screen cast to a Chromecast dongle connected to the Vizio TV now, there is NO problem but if you screen cast to the Vizio's inbuilt Chromecast there is a problem. Is this correct?

What is the model number of your Vizio TV?

Jayeff thanks for answering. Yes you are correct.

Unfortunately I can't find the model number...I know there's a plate on the back, but it's currently wall mounted and not easily accessible.

Any suggestions, model number aside?

@jayeff

Just to update, I found the model number.

Hi @jakec ,

Have found some settings that you may wish to try. (apologies if you've already been here). I realize that it may not change things as you have no problems when using the dongle, but try it anyway.

Try one setting at a time

Also if the TV is connected to the internet, try checking for system updates, just to see if perhaps Vizio has updated the firmware for your model since your model was built. You don't always have the latest firmware installed on a "new" product. Go to the System menu > Check for Updates (p.25 of the User Guide)

Real stupid thought. Hold the phone near the wall on the side of the TV and see if problem is resolved. Wondering if TV's WiFi antenna is at back of set (now against the wall). With dongle maybe not a problem as dongle's antenna (inside dongle) was at open side of TV therefore less prone to interference and signal degradation by the TV itself.

Thanks jayeff. I had the same problem and yours was the only answer online that made sense. I have adjusted the Picture controls and we’ll see how it goes. I’m streaming the same movie to see if I can repeat the problem. Fingers crossed.
