What is this connector underneath the logic board?

Hi, I noticed in the MacBook Pro 17" Unibody logic board removal instructions (here, step #23: MacBook Pro 17" Unibody MagSafe DC-In Board Replacement), there is a comment from someone else to watch out for a connector underneath the logic board. Unfortunately there was no mention of this in the actual guide, so I pulled the logic board off thinking it was stuck and ended up 1) pulling the connector off the logic board, which is really hard to reattach before installing the logic board again, and 2) pulling a wire out of the plastic connector itself. There are 3 wires going into the plastic connector: black, grey (pulled this one out) and silver (looks like a ground wire).

So my question is, does anyone know what this connector is used for, and do I need to somehow reinsert this wire before snapping it back onto the logic board? The comment said CCFL but that it wasn't sure. I wanted to get an opinion before going through all the steps of putting it back again. If it's some minor functionality that I can live with being disabled, might as well just leave it alone. Thanks.

The connector in question is coming out of the rubber hat looking thing in the middle of the photos.

What you encountered is the rubber foam around the microphone over the years managed to glue its self to the grill work Vs staying with the speaker unit.

Sorry you got stung on this. When IFIXIT writes the guides the systems are still fresh so the foam was not sticky from age. I guess we need to make note of that in the guides.

Oh wow, thank you! That makes total sense. Makes me wonder what the other commenter was talking about when referring to some CCFL connector.

Here's the new text: When lifting the logic board be careful! The rubber foam around the microphone may have adhered the microphone to the uppercases grill work so as you lift you could rip the connector from the ribbon cable.

* Take a small spatula and thought the fan opening carefully dislodge the microphone from the grill as you lift the logic board.

* To locate the microphone note on the next slide the small unit between the fingers of the hands.
