My screen spazzes out, please help!

Hello,

there's no other description that I can think of, but it just spazzes out. whenever i turn on my macbook, the screen starts to fritze and freeze at certain parts. I asked my friend that works at a comp store and he said that it's probably a hinge problem with the display wiring? Because I open and close my screen too much the wiring is getting weak and breaking or something like that.

Here's a photo of it, but think of it constantly flickering and spazzing out all over the screen. Sometimes i will be able to get the screen at an angle that I can use it, but then it starts up again.

If anyone can help that would be awesome

It does sound like a broken wire to me. Any damage to the external hinges or any damage to your laptop prior to this?

Cable problem

most likely since moving the display (which would move/rotate the cable) causes/fixes it.

Fix it now before it shorts out the inverter or some other part of the logic board. Mechanical devices will not heal themselves and problems only cost more over time.

It's a fairly cheap easy fix now, could be more costly later.

Remember to return and mark as accepted the answer that best solves your problem.

Good luck,

Oh thanks. There was no prior damage to my macbook, but is there a guide to fixing the wiring? I couldn't find one.

How would I fix it?

Thanks so much

DIY - use the guide, open the book, examine the cables for bad connectors, and/or nicks/cuts on the cable (most likely near the hinges). FIX the nicks/cuts with tape or silicone or replace them. Same with the connector fix or replace. If this is beyond you, take it to a shop.

Hey, originalmachead, I actually have the same exact issue the OP had with his computer. Except, I have an early 2013 15" retina macbook pro and I have no idea how to fix my inverter cable or whatnot. Are there any guides anywhere to fixing the cable but not replacing the monitor?

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK there are no inverter cables on that display. It has only a Display Data Cable Sostituzione gruppo dello schermo MacBook Pro Retina 15" fine 2013 Look for corrosion at the connector. If that's not the issue then you'll have to replace that cable (or it's simpler to get a display ASSEMBLY with the Cover, Display and Cable all as one unit).
