Kenwood ES020. Steam wand doesn't work.

Hello :)

So I have a Kenwood espresso maker and the steam wand doesn't work. When I open the valve water and steam start coming out from the bottom of the device when there should be only steam coming from the wand. When I close the valve the water starts pouring from the nozzle of coffeemaker (so how it's supposed to work). It was like that from the moment I took it out of the box. Is there a fix to that or should I send it back?
