Glue Spilled on Display Connector

Hi guys!

I accidently spilled superglue onto the motherboard, specifically on the Display Connector, while gluing the new rubber pad.

Laptop was in sleep mode all the time, and I didn't notice that anything went wrong until I opened the lid tomorrow morning. The screen didn't even turn on at first, so I thought that laptop was off. After turning it on again, I heard the startup sound, but still no image on screen. Less than a minute later, there were some random coloured glitches on screen, and afterwards it went fully black, didn't even show a pixel.

External display works like a charm.

Later I realized what went wrong, and when I opened back cover, I found out that the superglue was spilled inside through the little hole beneath the rubber pad.

You can find pictures of the damage in the gallery link below:

Anyone else had similar problem? What could have went wrong, should I be replacing the motherboard, or connector, or both?

Thanks in advance!

@nix sounds like the superglue is shortening out your display adapter and ultimately your video circuitry. So, for now I would make sure you do not try to start your computer up. You'll have to remove the logicboard and clean it properly with some isopropyl alcohol. Make sure that you keep it disconnected from any power for now. Superglue does not like mineral oil, so you can try and remove it with that. Most likely it will be inside the connector as well , so I suggest that you replace it with a new one. This of course will require some good skills. You may wan t to consider professional help with that unless you have that experience. The same is most likely going on with the cable end. Once you have those pieces separate post some more images of that damage.

I am afraid that I'm not competent enough :( I'll get in touch with some friends who are into electronics, and will get back with more details of the damage :)

Thanks for your reply!
