Why is my engine overheating and my vehicle loses power

Hi! My vehicle loses power when I'm driving and it cuts. I suspect a fuel pump. Please assist me in case I'm mistaken.

The fuel pump would not make it overheat! It could be the overheating that cause it to lose power and misfire.....

over heating has something to do with the coolant. either a blockage or a leak in the coolant system. do you ever have a puddle under your car? how quickly does it over heat?
