Spilled milk on MacBook

I spilled a bit of milk on my MacBook keyboard yesterday. I immediately cleaned the keyboard and everything continued to work fine. Then a few keys stopped working. I turned it off for some time and powered it back on and all the keys stopped working. I left it switched off overnight and I planned to get an external keyboard. When I tried to power it on this morning to check if I could use the keyboard, it didn’t come on. I wonder if there’s a way to try to salvage it before I consider taking it to the Apple store.

Sounds like a fair amount of milk made it though the keyboard and onto the logic board.

At this point I would open the system up removing the logic board so it can be cleaned. Review this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Logic Board Replacement. Are you up to it? If not I would at least disconnect the battery and keep the system cool for now until you can get your system to an Apple authorized service center. Apple doesn't work on liquid damaged systems and even authorized service center may balk or state there is no warranty.

If you are going for it you'll need some materials like distilled water (not tap!) & 85% isopropyl alcohol a shallow pan, cotton swabs (Q-Tips) paper towels & a soft toothbrush for the stubborn areas.
