Why is my watch not charging?

My Gear fit2 doesnt charge, it begins the charge sequence as i place it on the dock but it begins to show a thermometer ina triangle and just stops. Ive tried different power inverters and at one point just messkng with the connection was enough to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
