Model A1224 / Mid 2007 and Early 2008 / 2, 2.4, or 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo processor

when I install new memory 4 gb 2x2 imac does not work, when I put the original 1gb back it works.

any suggestions?

have you confirmed you have the correct type of RAM for your model iMac?

the Mid 2007 20" 2.0GHz/2.4GHz iMac uses PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM memory

the Early 2008 20" 2.4GHz/2.66GHz iMac uses PC2-6400 (800 MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM memory
