The display of the Kindle seems to be broken. As far as I found out, it is a Kindle Paperwhite 5th Generation.

@helmutkohli yes it definitely is broken. What is important here that you let us know as many identifying features of your Kindle. You do have to know for sure what model this is. Displays are available for most of the Paperwhite models, but not all of them

@oldturkey03 What I found out from the ordering info by amazon:

Kindle Paperwhite 3G

EY21

11.01.2013

5. Generation

53-000191 (Hersteller-Referenz)

ASIN B00 7OZNWRC

Is this sufficient or how can I provide more?

da

That should do. Does it have a Kindle logo on the back or an Amazon Logo? Now let's see if we can get the right display.

da

At the upper back side "kindle" is engraved, at the bottom of the back side an amazon logo is printed.

Hi Helmut - did you end up finding a replacement screen or screen model number for your 5th Gen PW?

No, unfortunately not.

Also no answer from here :(

I ended up ordering a screen from Powerbook Medic - will take a month to get here and it may well end up being incompatible but I am hopeful

I will let you know how I get on

Same Problem, ended up ordering this https://www.powerbookmedic.com/Amazon-Ki... for the EY21 Wifi Model.

Unfortunatly the display works fine but the touch input doesn‘t...

It works!

Had a stressful few minutes after putting it back together but the battery must have just been flat. A few minutes on charge and its back to life - both the screen and the touch input work.

I bought this: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Amazon-Kin...

And mostly followed this: Kindle Paperwhite 3rd Generation Screen/Display Touch Panel Replacement

Using:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/WEITUS-Stain...

And:

https://www.bunnings.com.au/trojan-26-pi...

And something similar to this:

Continued from previous comment (too long)

I didn't have the plastic opening tool so I used a sharp flathead from the screwdriver set to gouge a gap where the face meets the body. Did that all the way around and then used the same tool to pry open a corner and work my way around again.

Once it was off I followed the instructions except using the angled tweezers from the set I posted above instead of the plastic opener. I used the magnifying glass to help see the latches I need to flip to pull out the ribbons.

Followed it all in reverse (using the angled tweezers to place the tiny screws in position when trying to screw back in) and tried turning on but no good though screen would flicker. Charged for a while and came on by itself, now it works fine (so far).

Not sure yet how I am going to put the face back on but thats a minor detail :)
