Home button Cable is torn, (the small one, not the long one)

Hi,

in removing my cracked screen to replace it, I tore the home button's cable. Often people confuse the cable that is fixed to the back of the metal plate with the home button capable, which is attached to the home button itself and not the plate. Incidentally I tore both, but the the metal plate and its capable I replaced already so that part is fine.

The home button itself works as far as I know in that I didn't damage it. However its tiny little cable was torn when I was removing the home button, since I hadn't realized how sensitive the connecting devices were along with the cables themselves. I don't want to replace the entire home button assembly since that will take away the fingerprinting capacity of the phone. The only thing that is wrong with the phone at this point is the little capable that is torn.

I found the assembly capable itself on this very site: iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Home Button Cable Assembly, but the problem is what to do when I actually get it. I found a guide on how to replace the home button but it just shows you how to remove the home button, it doesn't go into how one would replace this particular cable. And, I'm pretty sure that to keep the original home button and merely replace the cable, one would have to have some smoldering skills, which I do not.

So, if I'm an absolute idealist and am fixed on my objective, how do I proceed? Here in France, Apple won't touch it, since "it was already opened and we can't take the risk of its not working because if it doesn't work we could be blamed ... yada yada yada." Clearly technicians and other such educated minds around the world have the capacity to change a cable? I have all the pieces and even the broken cable itself; all I'm trying to do is get the original home button back in place, with a working cable, and voilà, I'll be on my way.

Thank you for any help you might offer. P.S. My iphone is not under warranty and I'm not looking to Apple to do anyhting, they'll just try to charge me 300e and give me a whole new phone in its place. Not worth it.

Ah, yes, and also, just to add, I know that one could go about purchasing a parts-only iPhone 6 that allegedly retains a working motherboard along with its paired, working home button (and cable) but I just thought that maybe that option could result in lots of possible failures since getting the parts-only iphone 6 and confirming that the motherboard and said part are intact and functional leaves a lot of room for error and therefore expenses that might be able to be avoided provided that I can simply spend the 14 bucks, and pay someone to do the work if I can't do it myself. If the only other option is to buy a parts-only iPhone 6 and test my luck, then I guess I'll cross that path then. Thanks

This is beyond soldering, basically brain surgery level skills is required. I've only seen such skills commercialised in China. It is very unlikely to find the same service in Europe.

So if I buy the cable, wait for it and then send it along with the phone and home button off to some store in China, they could do it? Any ideas on what shop one would go to (online, not looking to fly there for the cable repairs)?

Thanks

Also, what if I just go the second route and get a parts-only iphone 6 and take out the mother board and home button assembly? Would I still need to head down to the hospital, hire a team of brain surgeons and other rocket scientists, that way they could look into it and... change the part? Or, is going that route maybe easier, in your view? Thanks

If you live in China it's much easier, outside of China I can't make any promises.

For the second route it's probably easier to sell the phone as half broken and buy a functional second hand one.

Thanks, Tom. Do you know of the shop that could do that in China, please? Seems like a service that would be pretty valuable depending on how much it costs after all is said and done, especially if I can just mail them the stuff. The thing is, if I can at least get a home button on there that works I'll be able to sell it for maybe 150e to 270e I think, maybe not quite that high but not far off. As a parts phone, I'm not sure I'd get even 50 bucks for it. For example I could buy a parts phone, take the home button off, put it on mine and then sell the iphone for like 200e. Would much prefer that then just... basically throwing it away.
