keyboard and track pad not working

i have a macbook pro which is coming up to 18months old. I recently had the screen changed under a known fault at apple in Bath. This isnt the problem though, after this change about 3 weeks later my keyboard and track pad stopped working. I stopped this by turning it off and on again and it seemed to work a couple of times. Now its does nothing and I mean nothing. on taking it to an apple dealer they said the keyboard and track pad are broke and i need to pay £480 to get it fixed...I bought a macbook on the basis they were pretty tough and were built to last but htis seems to be a false assumption. Is this common or can I get apple to do something to help me. Any help or suggestions are welcome. Before you ask I've tried all the different ways suggested to try and fix this but to no avail. please help me as £480 seems crazy to fix something I've hardly used and spent so much on to start with. cheers del

Can you clarify what model you have here. You've marked having the new 2017 model and yet stated it was 18 months old.

How about going to this site and plugging in your systems S/N EveryMac - Lookup once you know paste the systems URL here for us to see. Then we can see what we can do to help you.

Even still the 2016 model was introduced in October which was only 11 months ago.

Lets see if we can get a better idea, plug in your systems S/N into here: EveryMac - Lookup and then pasting the systems URL here for us to see.
