Replace iPhone 7 Plus LCD screen on iOS 11?

So I just had a cracked iPhone 7 Plus (the ultra-rare red-back one, which COULD make a difference, I suppose) that was on iOS 11 come in for screen repair. They had tried to get it fixed once but the repair facility said it got stuck on the apple logo and wouldn't boot up. I had just gotten a few different 7 plus screens from different suppliers so I figured I'd give it a shot. With each one, it did the same thing: Apple logo -> flicker -> Apple logo -> my desktop speakers get static-y like a phone is about to turn on -> NOTHING -- it just stays on the Apple logo (the longest I let it sit was about 3 minutes I believe.) With each I had the home button connected to the screen but nothing else.

Now, here's the kicker--I also tried it with a cracked, but functional (to be fair, I do not know if iTouch is still functioning on this screen), original iPhone 7 Plus LCD screen and it still did the same thing. So it's not a matter of aftermarket screens, it appears to an issue with replacing any iPhone 7 screens on ios 11. I know I have successfully replaced screens for an iPhone SE on iOS 11 and it worked. I think I've done a few others but I'm not sure which models.

Has anybody successfully replaced an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus screen when the phone was on iOS 11?

Hi all.

I have the same issue with iphone 7. I have tried to change screen (original quality and OEM quality) and dont not work. I have tried to put back the old one which was working, but still nothing.

The thinng is that i didnt experienced this problem with iphone 5s, 6,6+, 6s,6s+. Is is only for the iphone 7.

Before iphone 8 was on the market, i have heard about *apple certified shops* received a calibrating machine for the iphone repair. So my mind takes me to a big issues from now on. Seems that you need to PAIR the screen with the mainboard otherwise will not work.

Any other updates i have i will add coments here.

Apple just released iOS version 11.0.3 and it claims to address the Touch Failure on aftermarket screens. For those of you that have been waiting for an official fix, it appears to be here. Make sure to comment below if this update solves your problem.

I havent had one come in yet on iso11 but it may need to be that apple themselves needs to hard restore it back to the current ios then try a new screen.

I'm wondering about iOS 11 and aftermarket screen replacements. I replaced my screen about a month or so ago and tried upgrading to iOS 11 today and the touch response is unbearably slow. I also noticed that the speakers aren't functioning. When I try to play any audio it either gives an error or just does nothing.

I'm in the process of restoring back to 10.3.3 and so far just from the setup screen it seems to be functioning like it should.

I was able to restore back to 10.3.3 and everything is now functioning as it should. I'm hoping that this is just a problem with the upgrade but part of me is not hopeful that this isn't part of Apple's war against repair.

I called Apple support just to put in a report. After that I realized that after my repair my ambient light sensor doesn't work. I'm not sure if it isn't lined up right with the little window or if it's gone bad (I actually had to replace that flex because I damaged the original during repair). I also realized the last time I had it apart that I think a little bit of the foam surrounding the flex connector had gotten into it. I think I might open it back up again and use some alcohol to clean that out to attempt to fix it.

My problem feels like a driver, possibly the one for the ambient light sensor, is failing and then prevents other drivers from loading. I could also be totally off base and this is completely a software problem. Without being able to look at the diagnostic output it's really difficult to tell what's going on.

just stumble upon this as well. I was in the process of doing an iphone 7 plus screen repair today and notice the same thing. tried 3 different screen and same thing apple logo and flash and apple logo. the original screen with everything on it worked, but even trying an oem screen that was broken recycle had the same effect. i even put the home button and front camera flex in the other oem screen with no success. I think it seems ios 11 maybe reading some kind of code in the chips on the lcd maybe? when i put the original screen back in it boots and apple logo flashes and then a few seconds later the phone boots up like normal. i have looked on reddit and nothing has been mention yet. we have contacted the supplier to let them know of the problem . I really hope this isnt he like the old iphone 4 , 4s problem where the screen wasnt programmed correctly with new ios.

09/21/2017 UPDATE: hey just got word from our supplier about the 7 and 7+ screens. yes they are not programmed for ios 11 . was told to send screen back for credit and order again when they figured it out. also i notice theres a few threads on reddit that 6s and 6s+ are having lag and touch input problems or no touch at all as well. same problem with screen likely

Screen change on ios11 cant't be done. Had all the same problems. Boot loops and apple logo for 5 minutes on start up. Need to be running iOS 10, apple has stopped you downgrading to ios10 conveniently. I backed up another phone that's on iOS 10 then restored the phone that had iOS 11 to the ios10 restore. Job done

So replaced iphone 7 ios 11.1 with an aftermarket screen and all the same issues above, looks like the days of replacing screens ourselves are numbered.

im replacing a screen for a customer and running into this, thing is I replaced the same screen back in october.

Soi curious to crack the puzzle i dug into my old broken screns bucket, and found the OEM one from october and the one i replaced it with a few days ago, that I put on in october

the 2nd of the three screens, non OEM, boots up just fine, the apple one, is cracked, so cant telll whats going on, and in the process, i ripped the camera flex off the one that isnt booting (unless i do recovery, you can use it until you turn it off, but the camera wasnt working when i was testing it...

so unfornatley still a mystery. I was going to order a apple lcd refurb, but now because the non apple one works fine, im just ordering another knockoff.
