iPhone 7 problem with aftermarket screen

I've got a friend with an Iphone 7, he broke his original screen so i replaced it for a new one, Every screw organized on the place it belongs to. After a good and very fast repair the new screen works just perfectly fine.

But now it fell out and restarted, after the restart the touchscreen was unfunctional.

we didn't knew what to do next, so my first reaction was just giving it an hard reset.

It worked again! but now is my question, we went to the apple store and they said the device when it recognizes it's not an original screen it could take out the screen, so that it's unfunctional again, but i think that's searched too far, because there are so many places now where you can buy replacement screens, and when this is true there should be no aftermarket parts available right?

Do i have to worry now for the screen to die or is it just not that big of a deal?

the whole repair did go perfectly fine, no havily bended parts/cables/connectors, no screws mixed, no damage to any parts. And followed the instructions of the Ifixit quide.

There is a much higher fault rate on aftermarket parts. The reason these parts exsist is for lower price repairs.

In the shop we only use originals for the i7 as the part is expensive as it is. Sending back many will be a massive hassle

I would recommend getting an original screen from ifixit or other reputable supplier.

is it possible to buy original screen, only Apple have these? Where do you buy them ?

We buy them from a supplier. Cant tell you who as it is company secrets. There are people out there who sell them though.

In the past, when I was looking for cheaper repair parts, I found it best to really study the customer reviews and ratings. iFixit has arguably the best quality parts. However, if you are looking to save some money- studying the reviews on places like amazon and ebay can ensure that you don't lose a significant amount of quality/functionality in attempts to save funds. I did that for a range of devices and then when I found a cheap yet quality part on something like amazon, I would save that product's info and use it as my "go-to" for it's corresponding device. I.e. A cheap but functional iPhone 6 screen assembly on amazon became the part I ordered for all my broken iPhone 6 screen repairs once I used that product a few times and verified that it works as it should when installed.

Hope this info helps!

Thanks, i'll try the screens of ifixit! if there is a world wide shipping because i life in the Netherlands, every telecom shop here buys his parts of china and that was the reason i thought it should work but it wasn't that great as i thought.

I fix phones and I dont agree that the phone will know it has an aftermarket screen installed but an aftermarket screen usually has the digitizer fused to the glass and not the lcd so if you drop the phone the touch part can stop working for this reason and the only way to fix is to replace the screen again.

I do agree! As I also repair phones. I have noticed a big difference with iphone 7 and 7 pluses aftermarket screens not being recognized by the iphone and giving multi issues - not recognizing home buttons - screen blacking out- quality not great - screen not completely flush when placed on iphone - touch not responding and when replaced with an original OEM screen the phone goes back to normal. I have made it my duty to use only OEM screens yes it cost more but it is worth every penny.

Ifixit parts are reliable. More expensive, and a little longer shipping, but the best I’ve found. Others often work well, but ifixit has always worked well for me. Regretting having bought a cheaper 7+ screen.

Jeff Suovanen @jeffsu gave a good response re compatibility, (on the repair guide)and this link: https://webuylcds.co.uk/2018/05/15/touch...

It looks like you have to take apart the screen to find the serial number.

Unfortunately, the screen in my repair doesn’t match any of these, but it may be helpful.
