Diagnosis for a Vizio lcd?

My e552lv started up normal, showing the vizio v for about 5 seconds, then it would show the input normally, but then it fades to a bunch of vertical lines, and the picture completely disappeared. So when I got to the inside, I disconnected the right side from the board that runs along the top of the tv, ( In this model it appears to be 2 separate boards that run to the left and the right of the set, both of which plug straight into the main board. I'm curious to know if these are some sort of buffer or are they t-cons? Aren't tcons usually a single board?) so after I disconnected the right side, the left side of the set started to work properly, but when reconnected it went back to the lines on the whole screen. So my real question is, would be the main board or the "unknown" board at the top of the set? I have to replace ribbon and the board for sure due to a small burn mark on both after trying to put it back on...duh. I know. But the good part is, one of them was bad to begin with. Lol. Thanks for any help.

Update (08/10/2017)

@oldturkey03 I have another 2007 42 inch Toshiba with lines just through the input menu. Horizontal lines used to show up and go away with a tap to the back of the set, after I factory reset it, the horizontal lines disappeared from the start up but remain on the input screen. Any thoughts?

@jhaussmann post some images of your boards and how they are connected. Also, double check the model number. Use this guide Aggiungere immagini ad una domanda to add images. that way we can see what you see.

Yes the model is E552VL not LV. I will work on getting pictures with both ribbons connected and then with just the on that seems to work connected. Thanks.

Ok. Here are the pics of all boards on the set. There are no bulging capacitors in any of them. You can see the lines on half of the screen, that is with both connected, sometimes the picture won't show and it will be all lines, but as soon as I disconnect the ribbon on the right the right side of screen goes white (as it should obviously) and the other half is dim but works fine otherwise. Can you tell me if the boards on top is the tcon or.... only thing I'm sure of is the line should be main board then tcon and then to the strips up top, but I see no solid tcon as the ribbons go straight from main to the boards on top of the set. Thank you.
