My mouse touchpad is glitching

My mouse glitches all over my screen when I try to move it click something or just leave it alone. I used to be able to restart the computer and it would work for an hour or so then I'd restart again but now when I try to restart it either lasts for one minute or doesn't get fixed at all. Since the laptop is touch screen I can still get around all right but the touchscreen doesn't work with all programs and even if it did I would still rather use the mouse. It's one or less year old and I have not tried buying a mouse for it because I don't have room for it on my desk which is also why I got this laptop instead of a desktop. I might have to go back to the shop but wanted to try this first.
