Borrowed 5s screen wiped out my fingerprint sensor ID?

My screen was busted so I borrowed a 5s screen from another phone and plugged in the flex cable. The sensor didn't work as expected. When I got a new lcd assembly and moved my original button / flex cable to it, the phone wouldn't recognize the sensor. Could it be because I plugged in a different home button to use while waiting for the new screen? I ask, because now the phone I borrowed the screen from won't recognize its own home button which was never removed from it's screen.

You may be right, plugging in another home button may cause the saved fingerprints to not work, this happens especially if you had the other home button plugged in while doing a OTA (Over-The-Air) software update or an iPhone software update via iTunes.

Provided that the home button that originally came with the phone still works you should not be getting a 'Touch ID is not working' message when you turn on the phone. If you do not get this then I recommend doing a backup of your phone via iTunes then restoring the firmware on the phone using iTunes and then try setting up the touch ID again.

Additionally you may want to also restore your iPhone backup made via iTunes which is fine to do.

In theory it should not do this if the phone never got updated or restored with another home button connected.

Thanks, I think I'm at the point where I need to do a restore on iTunes. I've tried everything else I could find on this like resetting my network settings (don't know why that works for some ppl).

Much appreciated.
