Domanda Chiusa

Hard Drive Max Capacity

It is stated here that the maximum capacity of a hard drive is 500GB, WD for example go up to 1TB. Would this not work? If so, what is the reason for the limited capacity?

While I haven't tested it, it should definitely work.

Here's the reason: 500 GB was the largest laptop hard drive out there at the time of writing (and the largest we carry). :)

I can see no reason why 1tb wouldn't work.

I assume you're talking about internal laptop drives, since your post indicates you have a MacBook Pro.

The only limitation is the availability of drives. The largest laptop drive generally available is 640gb, though Ben says elsewhere that WD has a 1TB (and there will surely be more before long.)

Desktop drives are up to around 2TB now.

If you mean external drives, well, then you can do a RAID arrangement with mind-boggling capacity. It would be helpful if your question were more specific.

I was reading this morning on a data recovery site that the higher-capacity the drive, the more likely it is to fail due to bad blocks, see here: http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/hard-disk-su...
