Need to replace my brake shoes in rear can u help

My car truck when I push on the brakes they kind of hop also it's 14 years old so I didn't know if I can adjust the brake shoes in the back or have to replace them or like I said I when I slam on my brakes car flew in front of me I had to slam on them and the car just started hopping mine did it stopped but it was hopping if anybody can help me figure out what was wrong that would be great
