PS3 Disk Drive Not Spinning Disk

I have a PS3 slim and it cannot read disks. The laser does not light up or work and the disks I put in do not spin. My theory is that the data ribbon connected to the laser is damaged. That's why nothing is moving. What should I do? Should I get my laser or ribbon replaced?
