Screen going black and white-ish

Problem: Macbook Air 2011 Mid model has fallen a couple of times just near the thunderbolt port and part of the bottom right of the screen is dented. A year later the screen starts going grey and white-ish with tiny straight lines consistently up and down. However if the screen is moved around, or pressure is applied at the hinge especially to the right, near where the damage is it will go back to normal. Outputting to an external display shows that that it is a hardware problem with the laptop as there are no issues there.

I'm inclined to believe that it is the cable or the cable connexions which is at fault. I don't believe it's a GPU problem, as I can adjust the screen to make the display go back to normal which suggests that there's a connection being affected at the hinge or the actual display cable connection to the motherboard.

Any thoughts? I'm waiting for my tools to arrive to open it all up.

But I have a Macbook Air? And how come you are so convinced it is the LCD panel not a cable?

Oh and thank you for your quick answer of course. I really appreciate it.

Run your finger hard along the bottom of the display and see if you get any screen changes.

Well... it's a bit like my relationship status on Facebook as a teenager... "it's complicated" It's really only when I move the screen that it goes back to normal. But whenever the screen is at rest it goes to this awful color and lines. If I run my finger hard, it doesn't make any change and if it does it seems like it's when the screen is tilted. Also you linked to a product which doesn't specify it's compatible with Macbook Air is it still the right LCD screen for the macbook air model I have? (MB Air 2011 Mid). Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it.
