Suddenly can't connect to wifi after months of having no problems.

So I recently got back from visiting some family out of town, while there my laptop worked fine and normal, then I got home. I found out that my wifi at home had to be changed while I was away for some other issue, so I went to put in the new password to connect and it just won't? It simply tells me it can't connect. (To be clear, every other device in the house has connected to it just fine.)

I tried to troubleshoot and it tells me 'you haven't selected a wifi' i hit 'show list of connections' and my laptop does nothing but move on to the next step. Eventually it gives me two errors. "You have no preferred wireless networks" and "A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken".

I've tried forgetting the wifi and signing back in, did a reset on my laptop network settings, uninstalled the adapter driver for my laptop to re-install it, reset the modem and nothing is working thus far.

Does your laptop have a physical wifi antenna switch? Check to see if it does and, if so, make sure it's turned on. With it off, your computer will recognize that you have a wifi interface but won't see any networks.

No it doesn't, but I did just do the usual 'turn off wifi and turn back on in a few minutes' from the network list as the first thing I tried.
