iPhone Screen Black, Responding to iTunes, Screen works

Hi kind souls,

At wits end with no idea what is wrong with my iPhone. Anyone knows any possible reasons as to why my phone is acting this way? I wish to find out the root cause of it and fix it if possible since I recently just replaced the screen. Otherwise as a last resort to back the data in my phone up and just get a new iPhone.

So here goes....

Basically, phone was working fine before SHTF.

Phone hanged, totally not responding.

Only responded to screen locks, tried unlocking the screen and got the picture below instead (edited the photo to show my issue)

Thereafter, did a hard reset. Reset went fine, but phone hanged again.

Then it decided to die, and now it shows a black screen only. Pretty sure there's still battery in it.

Responds to iTunes, but my phone is locked with a passcode so basically I can't back it up.

Left it for a few days for the battery to drain..

Update - Just plugged in my charger, it showed the empty battery icon on the screen.

waiting for it to charge up, hopefully it boots up so I can back it up.

Basically I got it to work, and left it to charge. Came back to the same problem again...

Update (06/08/2017)

Basically entered DFU, did both a restore & an update.

Still in the same black screen situation...

Found someone that has a similar situation as me, except with mine being iPhone 6+.

I went back to where I repaired it and the guy showed me that when attached to a separate iPhone, the screen works fine.

Thus, I don't get what's wrong with my phone at all...

I suggest you take it back to where you repaired it from as soon as possible as the screen may be at fault and should be covered under warranty (most repair shops just give 30 day warranty on their screens).

If they are honest and trustworthy they should be able to fix the problem for you by changing another screen or at least fix the problem for you.

Since the screen works fine, it doesn't seem there are other explanations besides the backlight circuit. Hard to guess the reason, but unless the phone suffered liquid damage it could be that a component got damaged during screen replacement..but it's hard to tell without examination.

However you should be able at least to make a backup through iTunes with a Pc or a Mac and save all your data.

I'm pretty sure there's no liquid damage as I have not come into contact with water etc...
