Why does my iPod go into recovery mode each time I unplug it?

I have replaced the hard drive with an iFlash adaptor and a 128gb samsung micro SD card I believe is a knock off.

The iPod will turn on sometimes and function almost properly, but games won't play, and the available memory is zero kilobytes.

I have gotten music on the device successfully before and it would play, but the music transfer takes a long time and when I've tried syncing large volumes of music, the iPod would crash and need to be restored.

after trying to partition or format the disk on my mac the situation has only gotten worst.

Now I'm lucky if i can even get it to restore properly.

But if i do, it will just go back into recovery mode the second its unplugged.

when I run diagnostics mode and test the hard drive the iPod will shut off before giving me any stats.

I'm wondering if these are symptoms of a bad SD card or bad iPod.

before realizing the SD is likely fake, i suspected the motherboard was the problem, or maybe a ribbon cable.

NOTE : I should mention the iPod was not working properly before the iFlash upgrade either. it suffered from a hidden library and wouldn't always cooperate with iTunes.

So investing in the upgrade has been a bit of a gamble.

Just wondering if anyone has an idea of what the issue might be and whether its worth investing in a proper micro sd card or not

I would suggest trying just some cheap sd card you can purchase at the store.

If that is successful, i would say you got a fake sd card.

if it doesn't work, i would say that the adapter you got might be faulty. Try and return it and then get a new one.

If that still doesn't work, the ribbon cable might be bad, if your old hard drive still works, does your ipod work fine with it?

I got a new card and it's helped.

the iPod will turn on again sometimes. i managed to put music on it and the transfer speed was quick.

but when i try playing the music or a game the iPod will immediately shut off and restart.

it has successfully restored once as well and when i unplug it, it no longer goes into recovery mode

but when it isn't turning on properly it goes into a boot up loop of displaying the apple logo then shutting off and powering back up again and repeating.

do these symptoms give you any further idea as to what it could be?

If it is a faulty ribbon cable, where could i buy one?

I'm having the same exact problem on my iPod Classic 6th Generation. I installed the same iFlash-Solo board and SD Card to an iPod Classic 5th Generation, and it works fine. I also installed the original hard drive to the iPod 6th generation, and it works fine as well. So, I know it isn't either SD Card, iFlash-Solo, or Ribbon cable.

Do you have any ideas?
