After replacing iPhone 3GS Dock Connector: Antenna Signal is Weak

I found out that my eBay replacement part gave me crap reception. So my fix was use the apple arieal and eBay dock connector. Simply job rip off the sticker on the back of the dock connector and replace with your old one. Works gave me back full signal :) The little tab has nothing to do with signal as I use my apple aerial with the iPhone apart and made a call lol

I feel compelled to add that what Sparky says is true.

I was also having bad reception issues after i switched out my dock connector.

luckily i saved the original one. i peeled off the anttena from the old one, stuck it on the new connector, installed it and it works like new now.

Thanks Guys had the same problem my battery ran out and would no longer charge so i ordered a dock connector and battery and wow putting my old dock connector back in sorted this issue out immediately.

Exactly the same problem....did exactly the same as SPARKYTHEBRAVE suggested and bingo works perfectly, full signal. Thanks sparky, saved my sanity!

I also replaced my docking connector from one off of ebay. Now my reception is very bad. Though I already threw out my original one.

Any suggestions as to where to get a good replacement antenna to stick onto my ebay docking connector?

glad I found this, just used my original apple antenna and it all works fine

The iPhone 3GS has a coaxial antenna connector about 1.5 cm (1/2") above the microphone. Make sure it is properly connected.

can anyone post a picture of what the antenna looks like? all help appreciated thanks

Just came across this website looking for answers as to why my reception was extremely poor to none after doing dock assembly replacement and battery change. I performed the sparky maneuver and voila 5 bars. I can only say thank you and God bless you for sharing your knowledge. I don't have to buy a new phone now.
