My mainboard wifi antenna connector snapped

Hello all,

Last week i bought a pretty worn iphone i was going to repair. Got it for a good price, but i noticed after testing that the wifi was only working on 5GHZ. 2,4GHZ was working, but only very very close to the router. I considered giving it back to the seller, but did research on ifixit and ordered a new flex. ( The one on the back of the mainboard). I got the part today, and was going to replace it.

But, when i removed the 4 of the connectors, one of the took the whole connector with it. I don't know if it fell off when i tried to remove the connector, or if it was already lose.

Is there anything to do except doing microsoldering? 5Ghz still works, and 2,4GHZ works very close to the router, with the same antenna/flex and only with 3 connected.

The boring part about it is that if i knew about the wifi issue, i would never buy it in the first place.. But i decided to just try it. Shame on the seller..

Any ideas?

If I'm correct that L shaped cable has one for 5 GHz and another for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

I suppose you could solder a wire from that broken antenna plug to the antenna cable itself but it really isn't a good fix and is probably bound to get loose easily. You might want to remove that broken plug from the antenna cable carefully using fine tweezers.

Thanks for the answer. I don't think i will try that. I sent off a melding to the one i buyed it off, and he is not responding. Really annoying, but i guess that sometimes happens. Will reassemble and sell it to someone having use for it.

Does it matter? 5ghz isnt ofter used. if it still works on 2.4ghz its fine. now if you use 5ghz, just send it off but if you dont, keep using the phone if you want.
