No tail lights or dash lights.

I have a 1996 Nissan Pulsar Sedan that keeps blowing a fuse when I switch on the parkers.I had to replace a couple of bulbs,I've visually checked the wiring, checked for dirt or moisture in all the light sockets and pulled out the dimmer switch, but can't seem to pin point the problem.I cant see any wiring that is loose or contacting.does this model have a relay switch that may cause an issue. The car has very, very low mileage so everything is in immaculate condition.Just this nuisance problem.

You said that a fuse keeps blowing, thus meaning a short. Was there any work done in the car before this occurred? And when and how did it occur in the first place?

No mechanical work has been done on the car.We did wash the car the same day that we noticed it had the problem. It may sound quirky, but a spider has taken up residence behind the grill and we found a web there.would a spider web cause a short ???.Everything else on the car seems to be fine. All lights and horn, other than the tail lights, number plate lights and dash lights.

Carlos said what i was going too but it wasnt working. If it blows, remove everything. if it still does, then there is an issue. The spider isnt an issue.

da

The problem was pinpointed to the indicator stalk which has the parker and headlight switch on the end of it.thanks guys for your help.It was worth going through the whole procedure though, just to make sure.

Car was fixed temporarily.replaced faulty indicator stalk to resolve park light issue, but the same issue has returned, blowing the fuse, leaving me with no parkers or dash lights,as well as now the car won't turn over even though the battery is fully charged.all I get is a single click noise under the dash.??????????

The spider would do any harm. What im thinking is either water got in somewhere in the system and is shorting something or a fuse. You said one was blown, when you replaced it did it blow again? Because if it did there is a short and its going to be a process to fix it. If the fuse had blown, remove all the lightbulbs and try again. If it still blows there is a short somewhere in the system, if it doesn't then there is something wrong with the bulb or bulb socket.

Ok I removed all the bulbs and everything seems to be good.l left the bulbs out replaced the fuse turned the switch and the fuse blew again.I pulled the fuse box out and cleaned any dust and grime out with contact cleaner.I pulled the dash out and the indicator stalk as well but everything seems intact and clean. It has to be a live wire contacting an earth or body???.this model doesn't appear to have a relay switch.Any other idea's would be great, because I'm baffled.

There is 2 options. One is the switch which could have broke and shorted inside and the other is the wire. Remove the switch and figure out which wires connect together to turn the lights on. If the bulbs are out and you short the 2 wires that make the lights turn on when the switch is on and the fuse blows, you have an exposed wire and i suggest you take it to a dealer or mechanic. If when you short those 2 wires and the fuse doesnt blow, put the bulbs in, if it still doesnt blow and the lights light up, then the switch is bad and it needs replacement.

Sorry if this was confusing in any way. If you're confused just ask/.

Your best bet would be to remove all bulbs and try switching the light switch on that way. If the fuse blows, you can eliminate the bulbs being the issue. If it doesn't, add one bulb at a time to see which bulb blows it. If a particular bulb blows a fuse, try another bulb in its place. If it blows again, then most likely it's not the bulb but a bulb housing issue or the wiring behind it.

If the fuse blows without any bulbs installed, then your problem could be either the light switch itself causing an internal short, or wiring that you doing see being shorted out somewhere
