Did you end up getting yours to work? My daughter is having the same problem

Hi, my camera has the same problem. I have cleaned with Isopropyl Alcohol, checked with the multimeter (it shows a reading both + and -), bought new batteries and it still doesn't work. Is there anything else I can do or it's dead?

@suga1234 , Hopa, Yes if battery contacts corroded, they should be cleaned to make a good connection. A pens ink eraser has a little grit in it and works well for cleaning corroded terminals also soft cloth or Qtip dampened with 90%+ Isopropyl Alcohol can work. Have patience clean all terminals, blow/shake any debri out of battery compartment, install new good quality batteries correctly and try. Link below to trouble shooting.

Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Hi,

Don't know your camera, but perhaps the battery acid also corroded the connections from the camera's battery terminals to the motherboard in the camera. If you have a DMM (Digital Multimeter) your can use its' Ohmmeter function to test between the +ve and -ve camera battery terminals and see if there is a reading shown on the meter display that there is a connection. You may have to reverse the meter's test leads as it may be polarity conscious.

Also , check the alkaline batteries that leaked and see if the battery manufacturer guarantees them against leakage at all. If so contact the manufacturer regarding the leakage and the damage caused. Some state that they will replace / repair the equipment if it is found that the leakage was not caused by user misuse. Hopefully you have kept the batteries and have not thrown them away.

Hi, I did not use the camera for few days and forgot to remove the battery too... Later I found luquid leakage in the battery slot.. I removed the battery cleaned it with cotton and tried with new batteries .. but the camera is not turning on.. can anyone help me out with a solution..

tried this and it worked, thankyou so much! If you are struggling to get the corrosion off with isopropyl, I recommend sandpaper. Mine had corroded pretty bad and it was really hard to remove it with alcohol, so I ended up sanding off the corrosion and the camera works perfectly now.

Hi @sharon8 ,

First check my comment (2 above yours).

You may also have to dis-assemble the camera to check if any damage caused by the leaking battery has occurred.

If you see any corrosion etc try gently cleaning it off using Isopropyl Alcohol 90%+ (available from electronics parts stores) and a Q-Tip.

Here are a couple of links that may be of some help.

This link is also helpful as damage caused by corrosive acid is likely to be worse than the corrosive effects of the impurities in water
