trying to reboot system to connect to wireless logitech keyboard.

My computer keyboard is not working except for F keys and touchpad. Previously I got a Logitech wireless keyboard (a friend set up) and it worked great. I ended up buying a new computer. Now I have a very good friend who is down on his luck so I am trying to set this one up again.

Toshiba told me to reboot system: power off, unplug, power on hold 30 secs, press F12 and hold until get message to reboot.

The first few times I tried this I only got the options to repair not reboot, I tried that no luck. Then today I tried again, a wk later, now it says: "Windows did not shut down successfully and the options it gives are: 1. safe mode 2. safe mode with network or 3. safe mode with command prompts.

Have I totally messed this up beyond repair or any props to get it working?

The laptop is wireless and can get to desktop and a few other things e.g. force quit, but limited as most keys don't work. Thus the wireless external keyboard?

Any advice will be appreciated
