My wifi is not working well so i'm thinking about buying both of the cables. However,i'm not sure weather the left and right antenna are made of the same components

That's weird. Can't find right. You may have to call/email iFixit and get the product code, and search that. I don't know which one you need

Do they contain the same components? Do i need to specifically buy a left antenna and right one? thanks.
That's dual band for you: 2.4 and 5GHz.
I would think they are interchangeable as they are technically a piece of wire. Just my opinion.
The active antenna part is the same! It's the mounting as the part is not reversible that is why there are two distinct parts.
Over the years antenna & transceiver designs have changed. At one time we had different antenna's for the different frequencies (2.4 GHz/5.0 GHz). Then we had MIMO which was two antennas which need to be the same.
Overtime the transceiver no longer needed separate antennas of the different frequencies so that allowed them to drop the dual antennas for the different frequencies.
It doesn't alter the need for two antennas for MIMO services. Remember not all devices offer MIMO.
do you think the wifi antenna for the ipad air 2 will work on the first gen ipad air?
Sorry Jason, Sadly it's not that easy! Apple often altered the mechanicals which they did here so the answer is no you need to use the correct part.
